Administration and organization of PAU

The highest decision-making powers in the Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU is exercised by the Congress that convenes every four years. Representatives to the Congress are elected by the local trade union chapters based on the number of members. In between the Congresses, decision-making powers are exercised by the Union Council that convenes twice a year.

The day-to-day operations of the Union are administered by an Executive Board in accordance with the policies determined by the Congress and Council. Assisting the Executive Board are executive committees, working groups and the Union office.

On the practical level, the interests of the members are taken care of by an extensive network of national and local union officials, such as chief shop stewards, shop stewards, special occupational safety monitors, occupational safety representatives and health & safety officers.

As well as concluding collective labour agreements, the Union looks after the interests of the members by participating in various working groups and negotiations, submitting proposals and initiatives and issuing opinions to Itella (Post), ministries and other government agencies and authorities.
