Members have a wide
range of benefits
PAU members are insured under If (Insurance Company) accident, travel and organisation insurance. Insured are working and unemployed members of the union. The insurance also covers members whose have unpaid membership fees for acceptable reason. For persons retiring, the insurance is valid until the end of the calendar year in which the member retires.
Accident insurance covers injuries to members during their free time anywhere in the world. The insurance covers injury treatment costs and permanent harm that occur during leisure time when they are not compensated on the basis of some other law.
Compensation for the treatment of an injury is subject to a maximum of €3,313/incident. There is no co-payment. Compensation for permanent harm is subject to a maximum of €36,214. Compensation is payable based on the degree of medical harm. Compensation for permanent harm is tax exempt.
Travel insurance is valid for a maximum of 45 days from the start of each individual free-time journey in Finland or abroad. The insurance also covers children and grandchildren under the age of 20 travelling with their parents or grandparents.
Travel insurance also covers travel illness treatment costs for a maximum of 90 days from seeking medical attention and injury treatment costs for a maximum of 3 years from the occurrence of the injury.
Children are insured with the same coverage as members, in addition to compensation of €2,000 for death caused by an accident and €10,000 for total permanent harm caused by an accident. If has a sports exclusion in under the insurance terms.
Travel insurance also includes crisis cover, which covers the cancellation or interruption of a journey due to an unexpected situation at the destination and compensates any psychotherapy needed to recover from the event. Missed travel is also compensated under certain conditions.
If the insured dies during a trip abroad, the insurance also covers reasonable costs of repatriating the deceased back to Finland.
Luggage is not covered by the travel insurance.
Union members are also insured under organisation insurance in the union's organisational tasks and events. The insurance covers, for example, the treatment costs of illnesses and injuries, as well as compensation for property damage. You can also call If and deal with the claims report by phone on +358 10 1919 19 on weekdays from 8am to 6pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
