The latest postal law was approved by Parliament on June 21st 2017.
The law applies to the provision of postal universal service and other postal services. The law does not apply to the provision of a service for newspapers, periodicals, unaddressed shipments, letters of correspondence, if the activities are of a small scale, of a low economic importance and of a magnitude that is not relevant to the availability of universal service, courier services for correspondence, packages not covered by universal service or postal activity required or related to the trader's own activities.
The provisions of the Act shall not apply to international postal services as far as the international agreement binding on Finland is due.
