The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU submitted a notice on 25 January of a broad political strike taking place between 1-2 February 2024 covering the postal industry. The strike opposes the government’s radical cuts to working conditions, unemployment insurance and the right to strike.
The strike applies to all jobs in all the companies belonging to Posti Group Oyj concern that are following either the collective labour agreement for the communications and logistics sector or the collective labour agreement for the parcel sector Posti Palvelut Oy. The work stoppage also applies to subcontracted and hired work in these companies.
During the strike, there will be no work shifts starting between 1 February 2024 at 00:00 and 2 February 2024 at 18:00. About 10,000 employees are affected by the strike. Work related to health and safety has been restricted outside the scope of the strike.
PAU will participate in SAK and STTK’s mass demonstration against government cuts in working conditions and social welfare held in Helsinki on Thursday 1 February 2024. PAU encourages all Posti employees to participate in the demonstration. Read more about the demonstartion here.
The strike is a legal, political demonstration established by PAU’s board, and it cannot result in any sanctions for the individual employee.
